Ian, who wrote this, recently told me I'm one of the best examples of this he's seen. And I thought YES this captures how I feel.... not always excited about or compelled by the idea of cranking out essays like others are able to (and enjoy) doing *so* well. But rather doing something different. Perhaps there will be a time and place for more writing, but it's nice to hear there is value in the curator's work. :') https://www.endeavorwithus.com/the-ministry-of-curation

That's a very online example, but a real one nevertheless.

You are a fabulous curator! There is so much value in it. I think curation can also be part of an editor’s job: to see the whole and how the different pieces fit together within it. (I think this is what happens in editorial meetings of journals and magazines and newspapers, though I’ve never sat in.) Maybe Substack by its nature skews towards highlighting the gift of writing but I would never claim to think it’s better than another.

I’m so grateful the rest of us benefit from your curation. Imagine if everyone was just writing essays and no one was highlighting how they interact with one another! There are also plenty of people with gifts for learning who are in a position neither to create nor to curate- they benefit as well.

I wish there was a way to get a printed version of the Life Considered journal every week :)
